Atlantic 10 Track and Field weekly awards have been announced after start of 2022-23 season

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. –The Atlantic 10 Conference Track and Field season is underway and the weekly awards for Track Performer of the Week, Field Performer of the Week, and Rookie of the Week for both men’s and women’s have been announced.

Track Perfomers of the Week were Jordan Benson of Davidson for the Men and Kamryn Ross for the Women. Men’s Field Perfomer of the Week went to Jayden Kouadio of Saint Louis, with Women’s Field Performer being split between Tiffany Hanna and Megan Wood for Co-Performer. Men’s Rookie of the Week went to Will Stewart and the Women’s to Anabella Chin.

Benson, a senior out of Mason, Michigan, ran a school record in the 60 meter hurdles at the JDL Early Bird Invitational. His time of 7.94 is a school record that earned him first place to lead all of the A-10 and is 7th in the country.

Kouadio, a sophomore from O’Fallon, Mo.,  participated in the John Coughlan Invite at Illinois State and won the triple jump with a mark of 46’ 0.75’’ while also placing third in the high jump with a mark of 5’ 10.75’’. 

Stewart, a freshman from Iverness, Ill., won the 200 m at the John Coughlan Invite in a time of 22.98 and also ran in the 60 meter dash finishing in fourth place in 7.05 seconds.

Ross, a senior from Richmond, Va., finished first in the 60 meter hurdles at the VMI Team Challenge with a 8.71 time. She also ran in the 200 (25.23) to take second and ran a leg in the 4X400 (3:58.52) to take third.

Wood, a junior from East Setauket, N.Y., took second place in the shot put at the Brown Alden invitational after throwing a personal best for 43’ 7.75’’. She also finished third in the weight throw at 50’ 1.75’’.

Hanna, is a graduate student from Nassau, Bahamas, and she won the weight throw event at the Youree Garcia-Spence Invitational with a mark of 57’ 2.75’’ to break a school record by over five feet. She also finished fourth in the shot put event tossing a 37’ 0.25’’.

Chin, a freshman Lumberton, N.J., native, placed third in the 60 m hurdles at the Fastrack Season Opener. She placed second in the 4x400 relay (3:58.71) and sixth in the 400 meters (1:00.41).
