FAIRFAX, Va. – The Rhode Island men’s and Duquesne women’s track and field programs lead after the first day of the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Saturday at George Mason.
Rhode Island sits in first with 82 points with George Mason (39) and Davidson (24) in second and third place, respectively. VCU (23), Saint Louis (21), Loyola Chicago (15), La Salle (13), Duquesne (7), George Washington (5) and Fordham (3) round out the current standings.
On the women’s side, Duquesne leads the standings with 32 points and VCU sits in second with 31 points. Loyola Chicago (22), Rhode Island (21.66), George Mason (19.5), Saint Louis (17.5), Dayton (12), La Salle (11), Richmond (10), Davidson (10), George Washington (6) and Fordham (2.33) conclude the standings after day one.
Rhode Island swept the men’s long jump with Matt Santy leading the way. Santy set a new record for a first place mark of 7.70 meters. Israel Henriques-Seth and Joachim Ennoo placed second and third, respectively.
VCU’s Adham Saleh earned gold in the men’s hammer, winning the event with a distance of 61.34M. GM’s Walt Bannerman finished first in the pole vault with a mark of 5.20M. The Patriots’ Lloyd Sheppard-Brown also won gold in the 10,000M run (32:00.39).
John Teachman of Davidson defended his title in the men’s javelin. He won the event with a mark of 64.41M. Loyola Chicago’s Nate Botuin placed first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:50.05.
Duquesne leads day one after collecting a silver and three bronze medals. Makayla Keck earned silver (48.94M) and Mary Grusky (46.64M) won bronze in the javelin. Nadia Constantakis (3.58M) also won bronze in the pole vault. Rose Kuchera earned third place in the long jump (5.93M).
Kennedy Drish of George Mason won gold in the pole vault (3.88M) and VCU’s Blanca Pereira earned first in the women’s hammer (60.23M). Madeline Rowold of Saint Louis collected gold in the javelin (49.21M).
Molly Wise of Richmond defended her title in the long jump, claiming gold with a distance of 6.10M. Loyola Chicago's Eileen Seebon won gold in the 10,000-meter in a time of 34:00.81.
The women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase was postponed until Sunday at 10 a.m. Day two of the OT&F Championship begins on Sunday at 9 a.m. with the 100M Hurdles in the decathlon. The second day of the championship will be streamed on ESPN+.
