Rhode Island Captures Its 16th A-10 Outdoor Track and Field Championship

FAIRFAX, Va. – The Rhode Island Rams men’s track and field team won the 2026 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track and Field title, collecting seven gold medals. Rhode Island captured its fifth title in six seasons and 16th championship overall on Sunday at George Mason Stadium. 

Rhode Island won with a total of 250.5 points led by Coach of the Year Trent Baltzell. URI’s Matt Santy was named Most Outstanding Field Performer after setting a new meet record and winning two gold medals. Santy set the conference record and won gold in the long jump (7.70M), and finished first in the high jump (2.12M). 

George Mason placed in second with 147 points followed by VCU in third place with 109 points. Saint Louis (71.5), Duquesne (55) and Davidson (53) finished in fourth, fifth and sixth respectively. Saint Joseph’s, Loyola Chicago, La Salle and Fordham rounded out the standings. 

The Rams’ Joachim Ennoo also broke the conference record and won gold in the triple jump (15.70M). URI nearly tied a meet record in the 4x100 relay, winning the event in 40.34 by Alex Arbogast, Sam Gott, Camden Rose and Lucas Andrade. Andrade also collected gold in the 110M Hurdles in 13.88. The Rams’ 4x400M relay team of Steven Doss, Sam Gott, Camden Rose and Elias Sposato finished first in 3:09.67.

The Rams also added gold medals from Antonio Capablo (800M), Theo Puterbaugh (shot put), and the 4x800M relay team (Adam Melnick, Antonio Capalbo, Jaden Enis, Maddox Jordan).

The Patriots finished in second behind gold medals from Jordan Edwards in the 200M, Walt Bannerman (pole vault) and Lloyd Sheppard-Brown (10,000M). Edwards was named Most Outstanding Track Performer, after winning gold in the 200M and bronze in the 100M. 

VCU placed in third, collecting three gold medals. Jordan Davis won the 100M in a time of 10.60. Shinobu Hawk finished first in the discus (52.48M) and Presten Augustin in the 400M Hurdles (51.49). Augustin also collected Most Outstanding Rookie honors. 

Other gold medalists included Michael Bohkle in the 1,500M, Sam Lamaze in the 400M (46.42),  Saint Joseph’s Michael Glavin in the 5,000M (14:26.78) and Duquesne’s Christian Cupp in the decathlon (7,234).
