Atlantic 10 Conference Announces Initial Swimming and Diving Weekly Honors

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Saint Louis freshman Teddy Ament and junior Emily Leonard were named Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Performers of the Week after their performances to start off the season. Freshman Dylan Felt of Davidson and Kenna Cashman of SLU received Men’s and Women’s Rookie of the Week honors. The awards were given for meets held from Sept. 23 through Oct. 1.

Ament, out of Rockville, Md., swam in five individual events posting three wins and two runner-up finishes. He won the 200 free (1:44.52) and the 500 free (4:46.24) against Washington University while also capturing the win in the 500 free (4:45.89) in a tri-meet vs Bellarmine and Missouri-St Louis.

Leonard, a Louisville, Ky., native, began her season with a win in the 500 free (5:08:03) and the 1,000 free (10:32.17) against Washington University. She was also a triple-winner in the tri-meet against Bellarmine and Missouri-St Louis claiming the 200 free (1:56.15), 500 free (5:07.27), while swimming a leg in the winning 400 free relay (3:35.68)

Felt, from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., won two-events against Queens: first in the 500 free (4:32.18) and then in the 1,000 free (9:28.47).

Cashman, from Aurora, Colo., had three individual-event victories and a relay win against Washington University. She won the 200 IM (2:13.45), the 100 breast (1:08.48), and the 200 medley relay (1:50.50) in Saint Louis’s season opener.
