NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The Atlantic 10 Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country Academic All-Conference and All-Rookie teams were announced by the league Tuesday, following a unique 2020-21 season.
The Academic All-Conference teams comprise six student-athletes who were selected based on their performance on the trails, as well as in the classroom. To be nominated, runners must have a GPA of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale) for their entire academic career. The teams were selected through voting conducted by the league's Sports Information Directors.
Making up the Men's Cross Country Academic All-Conference team are Fordham's Brandon Hall, George Mason's Thomas Amabile, George Washington's Pat Castellano, La Salle's Matt Bridger and Luke Jaciw-Zurakowsky, Richmond's Peter Borger, St. Bonaventure's Darion Gregory, and Saint Joseph's Matthew Scarpill. A tie resulted in an eight-person Academic All-Conference team.
On the women's side, Dayton's Emily Sreenan, along with Duquesne's Brianna Schwartz, George Mason's Annabelle Eastman, La Salle's Eleanor Mancini, Rhode Island's Lotte Black, and Saint Louis' Megan Kress were named to the Academic All-Conference team.
The Men's All-Rookie team was led by Richmond's Stuart Terrill, who finished second overall and was named the A-10's Rookie of the Year, along with La Salle's Taonga Mbambo (5th), George Mason's Wesley Bond (16th), Saint Joseph's David DelBonis (21st), and Dayton's Bryce Conley and Sam Duncan and Matthew Sollenberger, who finished 29th, 30th, and 36th, respectively.
On the women's side, Richmond's Elizabeth Stockman who finished eighth overall and was named the Women's Most Outstanding Rookie Performer, was joined on the All-Rookie team by Duquesne's Grace Sisson (20th), Davidson's Frances Whitworth (24th), Richmond's Manon Stephen (31st), George Mason's Leah Snyder (33rd), Saint Louis' Carly Sear (35th) and UR's Madison Trippett (36th).
