ORLANDO, FLA. - The eighth-seeded Duquesne Dukes used a pair of singles victories on opposite ends of the court to earn a spot in the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship, sweeping ninth-seeded Dayton, 4-0 on Wednesday at the USTA National Campus.

The top pair from the Dukes, Margot Pessy and Meredith Lee made quick work in doubles play, winning 6-0. The Flyers evened the score at one all as Kelly Pleiman and Sarah DeMarco notched a 6-2 victory at No. 3 doubles. The point was decided on court No. 2, as Ellen Shanahan and Daniela Latoni outlasted Erica Wojcikiewicz and Natalie Stanton, 7-5.

Duquesne picked up first set victories on courts one, four and six, while Dayton started hot on courts two, three and five. Duquesne's Meredith Lee gave the Dukes a 2-0 match lead when she finished her opponent on court four, 6-3, 6-2. 

With multiple matches hanging in the balance, Pessy finished her match, 6-1, 6-3 to pick up the third point for the Dukes. Just minutes later, Latoni clinched the match, earning a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 6 singles.

With the win, the Dukes will face top-seeded VCU in Thursday's quarterfinals at 3:00 pm.
