NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Dayton redshirt freshman Alayna Yates was selected as Atlantic 10 Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, and Davidson freshman Bella Brady and Dayton senior Jamie Peterson shared Defensive Player of the Week honors. VCU freshman Katrina Davis was name the league's Rookie of the Week.  The awards are for matches played Oct 4-10.
 
Yates helped lead Dayton to a perfect 3-0 week in A-10 play as she averaged 3.18 kills per set and 1.73 blocks per set in wins over VCU, Davidson and Saint Louis. On Thursday, Yates tallied a career-high 14 kills to go with a match-high nine blocks in a win over VCU. In Saturday's sweep of Davidson, she lead all attackers with 10 kills while swinging at .562 and also tallied four blocks. Dayton got past Saint Louis Sunday behind 11 Yates kills, while she hit at .529 and recorded six blocks. The middle blocker from Cedar Falls, Iowa, scored 4.09 points per set and posted a .458 hitting percentage.
 
Brady captured her fifth A-10 weekly defensive award by averaging 6.29 digs per set across seven sets this weekend. The libero from Winter Park, Fla., recorded 10 digs during three sets against Dayton on Saturday, then tallied a whopping 34 versus Duquesne. She also passed .971 on serve receive across the weekend, including a perfect 20-for-20 against the Dukes.
 
Peterson, an outside hitter from West Liberty, Ohio, averaged 2.73 digs per set and 1.09 blocks per set in a trio of Flyers victories. She recorded 14 digs and three blocks in the four-set win over VCU. Against Davidson, she added six blocks and five digs, and a career-high seven service aces. She followed that 11 digs, three blocks and four aces in a four-set win over Saint Louis. She averaged 6.5 kills per set, twice eclipsing 20 kills as well.
 
Davis, a setter from Leawood, Kan., averaged 7.43 assists and 2.71 digs per set in a pair of road league matches. She recorded 30 assists, an ace and seven digs at Dayton, followed by 22 assists, three aces and 12 digs in a three-set victory at Duquesne.
