La Salle Sweeps #A10MXC and #A10WXC Championships

LEESBURG, Va. – The La Salle Explorers took home both the 2019 Atlantic 10 Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championship titles on Saturday in front of an A-10 record crowd at Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg, Va. Saint Joseph’s Zach Michon was the Men’s Individual Champion, while Rhode Island’s Lotte Black was the winner on the women’s side.
 
Luke Jaciw-Zurakowski led the way for the La Salle Men, finishing third overall with a time of 25:13.2 followed by teammates Ibrahim Kedir who finished fifth at 25:20.3 and Anthony Hawthorne who placed eighth with a time of 25:24.5. Alex Sandras, who earned Most Outstanding Rookie, was the first freshman to finish, crossing the line 20th overall at 26:01.6. La Salle finished with 53 points, 46 points ahead of the next team. It was the 10th A-10 title for the Explorers on the men's side.
 
The Saint Joseph’s Hawks took second place with 99 total points, led by Michon who was the first-place finisher with a time of 25:02.7. Teammate Matthew Scarpill took ninth place with a finish of 25:31.8.
 
Fordham men took third followed by George Mason in fourth, Dayton in fifth, Massachusetts in sixth and Richmond in seventh. Duquesne, Davidson and Rhode Island finished eighth, ninth, and 10th respectively. VCU, George Washington, Saint Louis and Saint Bonaventure rounded out the team finishers.
 
The La Salle women won their eighth A-10 title and were paced by Grace Mancini, finishing third with a time of 18:01.8 followed by her sister Eleanor in 18:09.2. Jerika Lufrano finished ninth with a time of 18:15.4. La Salle finished with a total of 68 points.

Black won the race with a time of 17:38.8.
 
The George Washington women finished second with 92 points, led by Suzanne Dannheim, who came in second with a time of 17:45.3, and Margaret Coogan, the fifth place finisher (18:11.3).
 
The Dayton women placed third followed by Richmond in fourth, UMass in fifth, George Mason in sixth and Duquesne in seventh. Saint Louis, Davidson, and Rhode Island finished eighth, ninth and 10th, while Fordham, VCU, Saint Joseph’s and St. Bonaventure rounded out the team finishers.
