Duquesne's Christian Cupp Wins Gold at FISU America Games

Pittsburgh, Pa. – Christian Cupp of the Duquesne University men's track & field team won the decathlon gold medal while representing Team USA at the 2026 FISU America Games, finishing with 7,064 points.

The 2026 FISU America Games, the fourth edition of the continental event, were held in Lima, Peru. The Games brought together university student-athletes from more than 20 countries across North, Central and South America to compete in an international multi-sport competition.

Cupp finished among the top three in all 10 decathlon events, placing second in seven events and first in the 400-meter dash (49.60) and pole vault (4.20 meters). The rising senior from Shaker Heights, Ohio, sat in second place after the opening day of competition and trailed the overall leader by 440 points entering the final event, the 1,500 meters. Cupp crossed the finish line in 4:37.44 to surge into first place and secure the gold medal. Team USA swept the podium, claiming all three medal positions in the event.
