WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference recognized George Washington senior Ashley Corpuz as its Under Armour Softball Player of the Week. Dayton senior Izzy Kemp was named Pitcher of the Week, while Saint Joseph’s freshman Alivia Heers earned Rookie of the Week. The league announced the awards on Tuesday for games played from March 23 to March 29.
 
Corpuz unleashed over the course of four games with a powerful hitting display for the Revolutionaries. The outfielder from Ladera Ranch, Calif. produced a .500/.722/1.700 slash line for the week, racking up four home runs, seven RBIs, five hits, and seven runs scored. Corpuz opened the week with a home run against Morgan State before keeping the momentum going in a weekend series against Fordham, including a two home run game on Sunday afternoon.
 
Kemp posted a 3-0 record in the circle this week with a 1.05 ERA and 32 strikeouts over 20.0 innings of work in four appearances. The right-handed pitcher from Westfield, Ind. led the Flyers to a 9-4 midweek win over Northern Kentucky, pitching 4.1 innings and allowing just one earned run on one hit. Kemp tossed a seven-inning shutout against George Mason, pushing Dayton to a 2-0 victory on Saturday, while striking out 13 batters. She added 10 more strikeouts while allowing just one hit in 4.2 innings against the Patriots on Sunday.
 
Heers slashed .500/.556/1.000 as the Hawks went 2-1 in a trio of nonconference matchups last week. The freshman from Lewes, Del. was instrumental in a doubleheaders sweep of Monmouth on Friday, going 1-3 with a walk and two RBIs in the first game before going 3-of-4 with a double, home run, and three RBIs in the second showdown.
