WASHINGTON — As one of the top remaining teams in the country after the NCAA Tournament Selection Show, George Mason has received the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament (WBIT), announced on Sunday.
After winning a share of the A-10 Regular Season title and reaching the Betterment A-10 Women’s Basketball Championship final, George Mason will host Quinnipiac on Thursday, March 19 in the 32-team postseason event. The game will mark the Patriots’ second-ever WBIT appearance, coming off a historic season to set a program regular season record with 16 conference wins.
In addition to Richmond and Rhode Island’s selections to the NCAA Tournament and George Mason’s selection to the WBIT, four A-10 programs will continue their respective seasons in the WNIT: George Washington, La Salle, Loyola Chicago, and St. Bonaventure.
George Washington (15-17, 7-11 A-10) put together a strong campaign in head coach Ganiyat Adeduntan’s first season at the helm, highlighted by a conference victory over NCAA Tournament bound Richmond.
La Salle (18-13, 10-8) took great strides in the 2025-26 campaign, collecting eight more total wins and six more conference wins than the previous season. The Explorers knocked off A-10 Champion Rhode Island in a regular season matchup, building momentum ahead of the postseason.
Loyola Chicago (14-17, 9-9) also saw strong improvement this year, the Ramblers’ fourth campaign under head coach Allison Guth. The Ramblers put together a six-game win streak to shoot up the A-10 standings, earning a Second Round victory at the A-10 Championship as well.
St. Bonaventure (16-15, 7-11) earned its first postseason bid since the 2015-16 season, stacking up 10 more wins than in 2024-25. The Bonnies picked up several strong nonconference victories including matchups against Buffalo, Canisius, and Radford, before taking down Davidson and Saint Joseph’s in conference play.
