RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond women's basketball standout Maggie Doogan has been named one of five finalists for the 2026 Katrina McClain Award, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced Thursday.
The Katrina McClain Award is presented annually to the top power forward in women's Division I college basketball. Doogan joins Toby Fournier of Duke, Khamil Pierre of NC State, Joyce Edwards of South Carolina and Sarah Strong of UConn as this year's finalists.
Fan voting begins Friday, March 13 at 1 p.m. ET on hoophallawards.com and will count as one committee vote in the finalist selection process.
Doogan has put together one of the most decorated seasons in program history, leading the Spiders with 21.0 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.1 blocks per game while shooting 50.3 percent from the field, 40.2 percent from three-point range and 89.2 percent at the free throw line. She has totaled 692 points, 259 rebounds, 130 assists and 36 blocks across 33 starts this season.
A senior forward, Doogan has turned in one of the top all-around seasons in the Atlantic 10, leading the conference in total points (692), field goals made (240), field goal attempts (477) and field goal percentage (.503). She also ranks second in the league in total rebounds (259), rebounds per game (7.8), free throw percentage (.892) and total assists (130), while sitting among the conference leaders in scoring average (21.0), three-pointers made (88), free throws made (124) and blocks (36).
Nationally, Doogan ranks 10th in total points, 14th in scoring average, 15th in free throw percentage, 17th in field goals made, 19th in three-pointers made and 28th in field goal attempts. Her season has featured a number of standout performances, including a career-high 48 points against Davidson on Jan. 10 and a 35-point outing at Saint Joseph's on Feb. 28. She also posted a season-high 14 rebounds against Temple and recorded a career-best five blocks at George Mason.
Later this month, the finalists will be presented to McClain and the Hall of Fame's selection committee, which is made up of media members, head coaches, sports information directors and Hall of Famers. The winner of the 2026 Katrina McClain Award will be announced at a later date as part of the Women's Starting Five awards.
Doogan is the lone Atlantic 10 Conference representative among the five finalists and the only player from outside the Power Four conferences.
