WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference recognized Dayton sophomore Katelin Goodwin as its Under Armour Softball Player of the Week. Dayton senior Izzy Kemp repeated as Pitcher of the Week, while Saint Louis freshman Allie Branstetter earned Rookie of the Week honors. The league announced the awards on Tuesday for games played from Feb. 9 to Feb. 15.
 
Goodwin put together a strong performance at Elon’s Phoenix Invitational over the week, going 5-of-9 (.556) at the plate with seven RBIs, and five walks to lead the Flyers to four victories in four games. The catcher/first baseman from Pendleton, Ind. knocked out her first home run of the season in a 10-1 win over Manhattan on Friday, sending another homer over the outfield fence the next day against Elon. She drove in four RBIs in the latter matchup, including what would prove to be the game-winner in a 9-8, come-from-behind Flyer win.
 
Kemp turned in a 2-0 weekend for the Flyers with one save, one complete game, and 23 strikeouts over 12.0 innings pitched to earn her second consecutive A-10 Pitcher of the Week accolade. The right-handed pitcher from Westfield, Ind. tossed a complete game against Manhattan on Friday, allowing just one run before closing out Dayton’s win over Elon the next day to earn the save. Kemp pitched 4.0 innings of relief on Saturday against Mount St. Mary’s, striking out 10 of the 13 batters she faced.

Branstetter helped Saint Louis post a 4-1 record at the Skyhawk Invitational, leading the team in slugging percentage (1.3000) and RBIs (7). Batting .600 for the weekend, the Frontenac, Mo. native produced three two-hit games and three multi-RBI games. Branstetter came through in the clutch in the Billikens’ 9-7 win over Valparaiso, delivering a seventh-inning double to drive in the tying and go-ahead runs.
