WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference recognized George Washington junior Cece Smith as its Under Armour Softball Player of the Week. George Mason senior Abbey Lane was named Pitcher of the Week, while Loyola Chicago freshman Katie Geydoshek earned Rookie of the Week. The league announced the awards on Tuesday for games played from March 2 to March 8.
 
Smith put together a strong weekend at the plate, while also excelling on the mound. The Atlanta native recorded a .750 batting average, .800 on-base percentage, and 1.125 slugging percentage, collecting six hits, three doubles, and two walks. In two pitching appearances, Smith tossed 13.0 innings, and allowed just four runs while striking out 16 batters.
 
Lane pitched spectacularly in three appearances last week, earning a pair of winning decisions in the process. The Round Hill, Va. native did not allow a run in 16.0 innings on the mound, starting with a relief appearance in George Mason’s 3-1 win over Georgetown. Lane anchored the Patriots to not one, but two 1-0 victory against Fordham, pitching seven innings in each game and striking out a total of four batters.
 
Geydoshek logged a tremendous start to her freshman campaign on Sunday, leading Loyola Chicago to a 3-2 win over Dayton. The Green Bay native struck out a career-high 13 batters while allowing just one run on three hits and one walk.
