DAYTON – No. 2 Dayton women’s soccer defeated No. 7 George Washington in the quarterfinals of the Betterment #A10WSOC tournament, 2-0, Friday night.
The Flyers entered today’s contest as one of the hottest teams in the conference after a 5-1-1 month of October that ended with four straight wins. That momentum carried over to tonight’s match, as the Flyers produced a strong offensive day.
The scoring opened in the scoring early, with Millie Cluxton snuck it past the outstretched leg of GW’s Jasmine Black for the starting tally, the only one needed in this contest.
Dayton’s offense largely dominated much of this showing. They outshot George Washington 18-7, with eight shots on goal to the Revs two.
This offensive output led to the second and final goal of the night, where a push by the Flyers led to a tight-quarters goal by Reese Gallagher.
With the win, the flyers guarantee themselves another home match. Their opponent will be decided following tomorrow’s slate of games.
