RICHMOND, Va. – Top-seeded Saint Joseph’s used goals in the first and third quarters and withstood a late Davidson tally to earn a 2-1 win Thursday in the first semifinal at the 2026 Betterment Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Tournament. This year’s tournament is being played at VCU’s Cary Street Field.

SJU 2, Davidson 1 - Box Score

The Hawks (10-9, 6-0 Atlantic 10) move on to the A10 Tournament final, which will take place Saturday at noon. Saint Joseph’s will face either second-seeded Richmond or third-seeded VCU, who are scheduled to face off in Thursday’s second semifinal at 2 p.m.

Saint Joseph’s got on the board just ten minutes into the contest, when Kiki Bruning took a feed from Alison Buffington at the top of the circle and beat Davidson goalkeeper Eleanor Larsen inside the right post.

That lead held until late in the third quarter, when SJU doubled its advantage thanks to a goal from Alex Enslin.

Davidson (10-10, 2-4) made it a nervy finish by scoring with exactly one minute left on the clock. A ball was played across the front from the right side of the circle, and the Wildcats’ Ise Adams was at the far post to push it home. The fourth seed could not find the equalizer, however, and Saint Joseph’s was moving on. Nothing new for the Hawks, who have won the last five A10 Tournaments and eight of the last nine.
