WASHINGTON – Fordham swept the Atlantic 10 Conference Under Armour Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving weekly awards, the A-10 announced on Tuesday. Graduate student David Vargas and freshman Quinn MacPhail were named Men’s Performer and Rookie of the Week, respectively. Fordham junior Hayley Clark and Rams freshman Ella Montgomery received Women’s Performer and Rookie of the Week, respectively. The awards are for competitions from Jan. 19 to 25.  

Vargas, a Mexico City, Mexico native, swept the diving event in the Rams' meet at La Salle, scoring 321.75 in the one-meter dive and 365.25 and in the three-meter dive. Vargas’ 3M mark ranks third best in the conference, while his 1M dive ranks fourth.  

MacPhail, a Shaker Heights, OH native, captured the 500-yard freestyle and 1000-yard freestyle events against La Salle. He won the 500-free with a time of 4:34.37 and placed first in the 1000-free in 9:19.09. MacPhail’s 1000-free time ranks third in the A-10.  

Clark won the 200-yard butterfly event in the Rams' meet at La Salle, where she posted a pool record and season-best time of 2:01.05. The Chapel Hill, NC native holds the fastest 200-fly time in the A-10. Clark also placed fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:21.31) and second in the 200-yard IM (2:05.30). 

Montgomery, a Lamoine, Maine native, won the 100-yard backstroke event with a season-best time of 55.75 seconds. She also finished third in the 100-yard butterfly event in 56.61 seconds. Montgomery’s 100-back time ranks seventh in the conference.
