George Washington Sweeps the Men's and Women's Weekly Swimming and Diving Awards

WASHINGTON – George Washington senior Daniel Nagy and his freshman teammate Andres Brooks swept the Atlantic 10 Under Armour Men’s Swimming and Diving Weekly awards. Nagy was named the Men’s Performer of the Week and Brooks was tabbed as the Men’s Rookie of the Week, the A-10 announced on Tuesday. GW senior Ava Topolewski and her freshman teammate Talya Erdogan swept the women’s weekly honors with Topolewski claiming Women’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week and Erdogan earning Women’s Swimming and Diving Rookie of the Week. The awards are for competitions from Dec. 15 to Dec. 21.  

Nagy earned two gold medals in George Washington’s meet against William & Mary. He earned gold in the 200-yard medley relay (1:27.47) and the 100-yard butterfly (47.64). The Budapest, Hungary native also finished second in two events. Nagy earned silver in the 100-yard free (44.80) and the 200-yard free (1:21.95). His 100-yard fly time ranks fifth in the conference.  

Brooks, an Austin, TX native, won the 200-yard fly event. He swam a time of 1:47.56, while also earning a third place finish in the 100-yard fly (48.60) and in the 200-yard IM (1:51.01). Brooks holds the sixth fastest time in the conference for the 200-fly.  

Topolewski swam to three first place finishes in GW’s meet against William & Mary. She claimed gold in the 200-yard fly (2:01.16), 500-yard free (4:50.75) and the 1,000-free (9:57.53). Topolewski, a Grand Prairie, TX native, holds the second fastest time in the conference for all three events.  

Erdogan, a Antalya, Türkiye native, placed second in the 1,000-free behind teammate Topolewski. Erdogan swam to a time of 10:00.50, which ranks third in the conference. She also finished second in the 500-yard free with a time of 4:55.80 and finished fifth in the 200-yard fly (2:07.64).
