Davidson, Fordham, George Washington Earn Under Armour Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Weekly Awards

WASHINGTON – Davidson senior Dylan Felt collected the Atlantic 10 Conference Under Armour Men’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week honor, while Davidson freshman Henry Shoemaker and George Washington freshman Andres Brooks split the Men’s Rookie honor. Fordham graduate student Katie Laverty was named the Under Armour Women’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week, and George Washington freshman Talya Erdogan received Women’s Rookie of the Week. The awards, announced on Tuesday, are for competitions from Jan. 12 to 18.  

Felt was pivotal in Davidson’s win over William & Mary, claiming the victory in the 200-yard freestyle (1:35.49) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:26.62). Felt, a Fort Lauderdale, FL native, carries the second-best time in the 200-free and third fastest in the 500-free. 

In Davidson’s victory over William & Mary, Shoemaker won the 1,000-yard freestyle. The Sarasota, FL native won the event in 9:21.67, which is ranks fifth in the conference.  

Competing against Towson and Georgetown, Brooks swam to a first place finish in the 200-yard butterfly. He finished the event in a time of 1:46.55 against Towson, which stands as the fifth best time in the A-10. The Austin, TX native captured second in the 100-yard butterfly against Towson (48.79) and fifth place in the 200-fly versus Georgetown (1:52.81). 

Laverty, a Rye, NY native, swept the diving events in Fordham’s win over Rider University. She scored a 283.58 mark in the three-meter dive and a mark of 296.10 on the one-meter board to claim gold. Laverty holds the fourth best one-meter dive mark in the conference.  

In meets against Georgetown and Towson, Erdogan claimed four top three finishes. Erdogan earned silver in the 1650-yard freestyle (16:41.09) and the 500-free (4:51.75) against Towson. The Antalya, Türkiye native captured second place in the 500-free (4:55.55) and third place in the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.67) against Georgetown. Erdogdan holds the second-best time in the 1,650-free and third fastest time in the 500-free in the conference.
