DAYTON – The University of Dayton Athletics Department welcomes Adam Herrick as the new women's rowing head coach for the upcoming 2025-26 school year.

Herrick begins his first season as head coach at UD, bringing more than a decade of competitive rowing and coaching experience at the collegiate, club, junior and para levels.

"I'm incredibly excited to be coaching the Flyers," said Herrick. "From the moment I first got in a boat, I knew coaching this sport was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. The values and lessons rowing offers its athletes are truly powerful, and I hope to honor that here in Dayton, both for the University and the athletes I'll have the privilege to work with."

"A favorite saying I share with my crews is: 'Lock on and follow through!' And now, I'll proudly add: 'Fly high. It's a great day to be a Flyer!"

Before joining the Flyers, Herrick served in his main role as the Director of Adaptive & Para at Three Rivers Rowing Association, in Pittsburgh, Pa. Under his guidance, the program developed as a nationally competitive program, featuring the first ever all-para 8+ at the 2023 Bayada Regatta.

While serving as the Director of Adaptive & Para, Herrick worked with almost every program at Three Rivers Rowing Association, assisting and head coaching multiple master's, juniors, recreation, and learn-to-row programs. He played an integral part in starting, and head coaching one of the only Special Olympics rowing programs in the country.

In addition to on-water coaching duties at Three Rivers Rowing Association, Herrick was the Director of Fleet Management, Campus Manager and Boathouse Keeper - overseeing all repair of shells, oars and engines, as well as management of ordering and maintenance at the two campuses of TRRA.

While in Pittsburgh, Herrick served as the head coach of Carnegie Mellon University Rowing from 2021-25, leading the program to multiple podium finishes at major regattas, including highlights of medal finishes at the Dad Vail Regatta in 2023 and 2024

Before his time in Pittsburgh, Herrick was the head coach of West Virginia University men's crew from 2015-20. Unprecedented positive results were made during his leadership of the team. Before coaching the team, Herrick rowed four years for the Mountaineers (2011-15), and was acting President for all of them. He also was President of the Club Sports Federation for three years.

The Flyers will return a veteran group next season as they compete in exhibition races this fall to prepare for the spring championship campaign.
