WASHINGTON – Rhode Island won the Atlantic 10 Conference regular season title and will serve as the No. 1 seed for next week’s A-10 Baseball Championship at Capital One Park in Tysons, Va. The seven-team, double-elimination tournament begins Tuesday, May 20 and will conclude with the championship final on Saturday, May 24, all streamed on ESPN+.
The Rams finished the season with a 35-20 overall mark along with a 22-8 record in conference play. Rhody receives a bye into the second round and will open championship play against the winner between No. 4 Davidson and fifth-seeded Saint Joseph’s on Wednesday, May 21, with first pitch slated for 11:00 a.m.
George Mason earned the No. 2 overall seed, finishing with a 36-19 record and 20-10 mark in league play. The Patriots begin play in the championship at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, taking on seventh-seeded Dayton in the opening round. The Flyers closed out their year with an 14-16 mark in A-10 competition and 26-29 overall. UD won a three-way tiebreaker via head-to-head results against George Washington and Richmond
Saint Louis garnered the third overall seed via a 18-12 record in league play and an overall mark of 31-24 and will square off against No. 6 Fordham (25-31, 15-15 A-10) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20 in the opening round. The Billikens won the head-to-head tiebreaker with Davidson for the third seed.
Davidson, which was 25-27 overall, locked down the No. 4 seed behind a 18-12 record within conference competition, and will battle fifth-seeded Saint Joseph’s (24-26, 17-13 A-10) at 11:00 a.m. in Tuesday’s championship opener for the right to challenge top-seeded Rhody in the second round.
