PHILADELPHIA – A total of nine student-athletes from Atlantic 10 member institutions heard their names called at the 2026 MLB Draft, taking place at the Pennsylvania Convention Center from July 11-12.
The total marks an increase from the league’s six Atlantic 10 players selected in the 2025 MLB Draft and continues the league’s recent success in producing professional baseball talent.
George Washington catcher Robbie Lavey was the lone A-10 student-athlete selected on the first day of the draft, taken by the San Diego Padres as the 124
th pick. Lavey hit a team-leading .337 this past spring, including a .349 average in conference play. He racked up a team-high 37 RBI in 51 games started.
Saint Joseph’s, the 2026 A-10 Regular Season Champion, had three players selected, while defending A-10 Champion VCU had two draftees. Dayton, George Mason, George Washington, and Rhode Island tallied one selection each as well.
The Philadelphia Phillies selected three Atlantic 10 players, while the San Diego Padres and Miami Marlins each drafted two. The Milwaukee Brewers and Seattle Mariners also selected A-10 talent.
