WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference recognized George Mason junior Tess Altevers-Harris as its Under Armour Softball Player of the Week, while her freshman teammate Maddy Johnson received Rookie of the Week. Saint Joseph’s junior Taylor Trowbridge was tabbed as the Pitcher of the Week. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played from March 17 to March 23.
Altevers-Harris, a third baseman, made all three starts for the Patriots in their three-game sweep of St. Bonaventure. In GM’s second game against the Bonnies, she was 3 for 4 with a double, triple and home run. Altevers-Harris finished the final matchup of the series a single away from the cycle. The San Diego, Calif. native slugged a double, triple and home run with five RBI and one run scored. She finished the series 6 for 9 with seven RBI and a 2.000 slugging percentage.
Trowbridge pitched a complete game shutout against Loyola Chicago. She struck out seven across seven scoreless innings with five hits and one walk. It marked her fourth complete game and second shutout of the season. Trowbridge, a Mesa, Ariz. native, pitched a scoreless inning of relief in Sunday’s game against Loyola Chicago. She registered a strikeout in the Hawks’ third contest versus the Ramblers.
Johnson, a Haymarket, Va. native, was 2 for 2 in the Patriots’ first game against St. Bonaventure. She scored two runs in GM’s win over the Bonnies. Johnson went 3 for 4 in the final contest of the series with one run scored and one RBI. Johnson, an infielder, finished the series 6 for 9 with four runs scored, two RBIs and two stolen bases.
