VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- The 4x400-meter relay was the deciding factor to assist George Mason winning the 2025 Atlantic 10 Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championship. It's the second A-10 women's indoor title for the Patriots, and their first since 2014.
The Patriots, led by Coach of the Year Andy Gerard, captured the crown on Saturday with 119.5 points behind four top three finishes and the fourth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay, which sealed the victory.
VCU, winners of the last three A-10 Indoor Track and Field titles, placed second with 111 points. The Rams secured gold in the 60-meter and 200-meter events.
Richmond was third with 101 points followed by Massachusetts (80.5), Rhode Island (75.5), Duquesne (53), Dayton (38.5), Fordham (35.5), La Salle (31), Saint Louis (31), Davidson (30.5), Saint Joseph’s (29), Loyola Chicago (28) and George Washington (12).
Most Outstanding Field Performer Abigail Weening of George Mason secured gold in the high jump (1.70M). VCU’s Nayome Shipp finished second (1.70M) and Camryn Thompson of Dayton placed third (1.65m).
Lily Saul of Rhode Island was the Most Outstanding Track Performer and gold medalist in the 1,000 meter. The Patriots’ Ellie Desmond was second in the 1,000-meter with a 2:50.45.
GM also collected bronze medalists in the shot put and the 200-meter. Olamide Enajekpo was third in the shot put (14.09M) and Susan Adenitan (24.35) finished third in the 200-meter.
VCU’s Lauryn Taylor earned gold in the 60-meter and 200-meter. Taylor won the 60-meter with a time of 7.41. Jadyn Haywood of Dayton placed second in 7.46. Taylor’s teammate Asia Powell finished third in 7.50.
Taylor broke the 200-meter record in route to her first-place finish. She finished in 23.96 ahead of Haywood at 24.08.
Eryn Byrd of VCU won the shot put at 14.75M. Megan Wood of Rhode Island finished in second at 14.21M.
Rhode Island collected gold medals in the one-mile, 1,00-meter and the 400-meter events. Saul broke the one-mile record in 4:43.23 to win the event and collected another victory in the 1,000-meter (2:49.87). Her teammate Sydney Federico won the 400-meter in 55.34.
Richmond secured four gold medals in the 500-meter, 800-meter 4x800-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay. Ginny Beringer won the the 500-meter (1:11.63) and Most Outstanding Rookie Molly Flanagan finished first in the 800-meter (2:11.97). The Spiders’ 4x800-meter relay team of Morgan Lyons, Ashley Bolesh, Dylan Miller and Flanagan earned gold in 9:03.23. Richmond’s 4x400-meter relay team won behind Elke van der Westhuizen, Beringer, Morgan Elliott and Darya Mikusova in 3:45.49.
Other first–place finishes include Aleia Gisolfi-McCready of Davidson in the 60-meter hurdles (8.50), La Salle’s Gwenno Goode in the 3,000-meter (9:44.97) and Saint Louis’ Journey Amundson in the triple jump (12.66M).
