WASHINGTON – The University of Rhode Island Men’s and the VCU Women’s Indoor Track and Field teams are seeking to defend their respective titles at the 2025 Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday, February 28, at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.

The 2025 IT&F Championship begins on Friday at 9 a.m. and concludes on Saturday, March 1.

Rhode Island is seeking its fifth consecutive crown and are led by Alex Arbogast, Jarrett Young, Joe dosReis and Matthew Santy. Arbogast is tied for first with the best time in the conference in the 60-meter dash and ranks third in the A-10 for the 200-meter dash. Young, the 2024 Most Outstanding Track Performer, is second in the A-10 in the 200, 400 and 500-meter dashes. DosReis leads the conference in the 1,000-meter run and the mile.

In the field events, Santy holds the best mark in the high jump, long jump and heptathlon score among the conference.

George Mason, the 2024 runner-up, returns Walt Bannerman. The two-time A-10 Field Performer of the Week won the pole vault at last year’s championship with a mark of 16-01.00. He currently has the best A-10 mark for pole vault at 17-08.50.

Also in contention are VCU, Saint Louis, Massachusetts, Saint Joseph’s, Loyola Chicago, Fordham, Davidson and La Salle.

On the women’s side, VCU is looking to defend its three straight titles behind Lauryn Taylor, Selkis Elong, Syndey Carr, Eryn Byrd and Gudrun Hallgrimsdottir. Taylor is tied for third for the best time in the A-10 in the 60-meter and the 200-meter dashes. For the field events, Elong and Carr each have top three marks in the long jump and triple jump, respectively. Byrd holds the first best mark in the shot put and second in the weight throw to teammate Hallgrimsdottir.

2024 runner-up Richmond is in contention as well as George Mason, Massachusetts, Duquesne, Dayton, Rhode Island, La Salle, Loyola Chicago, Saint Louis, Davidson, Fordham, Saint Joseph’s and George Washington.

Ginny Beringer of Richmond holds the top time in the conference for the 500-meter dash (1:13.83). She was a member of the Spiders’ 4x400-meter winning relay team at the 2024 championship.
