Dayton, Duquesne, George Mason, Rhode Island, VCU Earn Weekly Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Awards

WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference named Rhode Island sophomore Alex Arbogast as its Under Armour Men’s Track Performer of the Week and George Mason junior Walt Bannerman as its Field Performer of the Week. VCU freshman Marcus Acheampong received Rookie of the Week.
 
On the women’s side, Dayton junior Jadyn Haywood and Duquesne senior Hannah Seitzinger earned Under Armour Co-Women’s Track Performer of the Week. VCU senior Gudrun Hallgrimsdottir was tabbed as the Field Performer of the Week while Duquesne freshman Rose Kuchera received Rookie of the Week. The awards, which were announced on Tuesday, are for competitions from Feb. 5 to Feb. 10.
 
Arbogast, a Tewksbury, Mass. native, won the 60-meter dash at the URI Coaches Invitational. He raced to a time of 6.84, which is second best in the A-10.
 
Bannerman won the unseeded pole vault event at Virginia Tech’s Doc Hale Invitational. The Durham, N.C. native reached a new personal best of 17-08.25. Bannerman’s mark leads the conference and is tied for 29th in Division I.
 
Acheampong placed third in the 60-meter hurdles event at the Doc Hale Invitational. Acheampong, a Dumfries, Va. native finished with a new personal best of 8.02. Acheampong’s 60M hurdles time is best in the A-10 this season.
 
Haywood, a Dayton, Ohio native, won the 60M dash and set a personal record at the Gem City Invitational. She won the event with a time of 7.47, which is the second fastest time in Dayton history. Haywood also secured a victory in the 200-meter dash at 24.57. She holds the best time in the A-10 for the 60M and second best in the conference for the 200M.
 
Seitzinger won the 400-meter dash at the Jud Logan Light Giver Collegiate Open. The Belle Vernon, Penn. native finished the event at 55.17. She also was a member of the 4x400M relay team that won the event at 3:44.25. Seitzinger’s 400M time is first in the A-10.
 
Hallgrimsdottir won the weight throw at the VMI Winter Classic. Her mark of 73-07.25 (22.43M) set a new VMI facility record by 3.23M. Hallgrimsdottir, a Hvanneyri, Iceland native leads the A-10 and ranks ninth in the nation.
 
Kuchera won the triple jump with a mark of 39-00.50 for Duquesne. The Canonsburg, Penn. native’s mark ranks fifth in the A-10.
