WASHINGTON – Dayton junior Kamry Hunt was voted as the A-10 Volleyball Player of the Year, while Dayton coach Tim Horsmon picked up his third consecutive Coach of the Year accolade. Dayton senior Viktoria Wahlgren was named Setter of the Year and UD senior Karissa Kaminski received the Libero of the Year award. George Mason freshman Kiera Hamilton was tabbed the league’s Rookie of the Year to round out the superlative awards.
The Atlantic 10 announced the five major awards along with the All-Conference, All-Rookie, and All-Academic teams on Thursday prior to the start of the 2025 A-10 Volleyball Championship at the Siegel Center in Richmond, Va. The major awards, All-Conference Teams and All-Rookie Team were voted on by the A-10 head volleyball coaches. The All-Academic Team was selected by the volleyball media relations directors.
Hunt ranks second in the A-10 with 4.00 kills per set, producing a .264 hitting percentage to pace the Flyer attack. An outside hitter from Sylvania, Ohio, Hunt has also recorded 1.60 digs per set and 45 total blocks. After transferring from Ohio in the offseason, Hunt has helped Dayton record a .257 hitting percentage while holding opponents to a .171 clip, leading the A-10 in both figures. Hunt racked up 22 kills in a three-set victory over Rhode Island, adding 18 kills each in sweeps against Wright State, Duquesne, and Saint Louis as well. She was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week on two occasions.
Hunt’s accolade marked the third consecutive year that a Dayton student-athlete has earned the A-10 Volleyball Player of the Year award and the 10
th time in the last 12 years.
Wahlgren has racked up 6.55 assists per set during her senior campaign after transferring to Dayton from Virginia Tech this past offseason. A setter from Burlington, Ontario, Wahlgren has totaled 655 assists this season while adding 124 kills and 67 blocks. She has put together several extremely efficient performances, including a 37-assist showing in a 3-0 sweep against Rhode Island.
Kaminski has anchored one of the top defensive teams in the conference. A libero from Howards Grove, Wis., Kaminski ranks second in the A-10 with 4.39 digs per set. She logged 22 digs in a three-set victory against Loyola Chicago, as well as 21 kills in a sweep against Rhode Island. Kaminski also emerged as one of the top serving threats in the league, standing second in the A-10 and 20
th nationally with 0.50 service aces per set.
Hamilton excelled in her debut collegiate season, ranking fifth in the A-10 with 3.58 kills per set. An outside hitter from Tucson, Ariz., Hamilton also logged 2.15 digs per set and 47 total blocks. She has recorded eight double-doubles, including a 21-kill, 15-dig performance against Coppin State.
The winningest coach in Dayton history, Horsmon received the A-10 Coach of the Year accolade for the ninth time in his career. Leading Dayton to a perfect 18-0 league record for the third consecutive season, Horsmon guided the Flyers to their fifth regular season title of the last six years, and 13
th total under his leadership. Dayton enters the postseason with a 23-6 overall record and on an 18-match win streak.
The 2025 A-10 Volleyball Championship begins with two Friday quarterfinal matches at 1 and 3:30 pm ET. Saturday’s semifinals are slated for noon and 3:30 pm ET and the championship final will be played Sunday at noon ET. All five matches of the championship will be streamed live on ESPN+.
