WASHINGTON — Fordham senior Daniel D’Ippolito received not one, but two major Atlantic 10 men’s soccer awards, announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon. Saint Louis and VCU also tallied superlative accolades. The six major awards, along with All-Conference teams, the All-Rookie team, and the All-Academic Team, were selected based on regular season performance.

D’Ippolito became the first player in the league’s history to win the A-10 Offensive Player of the Year and Midfielder of the Year awards in the same season. VCU senior Moussa Ndiaye was named Defensive Player of the Year, while Saint Louis graduate student Jeremi Abonnel received the Goalkeeper of the Year accolade for the second consecutive campaign. Fordham freshman Daniel Lang was named Rookie of the Year. Kevin Kalish received the A-10 Coach of the Year award for the third time in his Saint Louis tenure.

Earning his second consecutive Midfielder of the Year award and first Offensive Player of the Year accolade, D’Ippolito is tied for first in the Atlantic 10 with 21 points this season. The team captain from Baldwin Place, N.Y. leads the league in assists (9), ranking seventh nationally with 0.56 assists per game. D’Ippolito remains a consistent scoring threat as well, scoring six goals this season including a conference-best three game winners. Pacing the Fordham offense with 3.38 shots per game, he has guided the Rams to an 8-5-4 overall record, earning the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic 10 Championship. In addition to the All-Conference First Team, D’Ippolito was selected to the A-10 All-Academic Team for the second consecutive year.

After earning the VaSID Defensive Player of the Year award in 2024, Ndiaye has continued to anchor the VCU back line to proven success this season. Winning the final three A-10 Defensive Player of the Week honors of the regular season, Ndiaye helped the Rams hold their final three opponents of the regular season to six total shots on goal combined across all three matches, garnering two crucial wins and a tie to push VCU into the A-10 Championship field. VCU limited opponents to a single shot on goal in four different matches, holding Davidson and Rhode Island to just seven total shots each. A defender from Dakar, Senegal, Ndiaye was also named to the All-Academic Team.

Abonnel repeated as A-10 Goalkeeper of the Year, building off a strong senior campaign to help Saint Louis clinch the No. 1 seed in the Atlantic 10 Championship. Tied for first in the league and sixth nationally with nine shutouts, Abonnel ranks 11th in the country in goals against average (0.647) and 21st in save percentage (0.804). A graduate student from Aix-en-Provence, France, Abonnel racked up five saves each in shutout performances against Dayton and SMU. He was also named to the All-Academic Team.

A defender from Pulheim, Germany, Lang has played a pivotal role in a strong Fordham defensive unit this season. Allowing just six goals across eight conference matches, the Rams limited Dayton to one shot on frame and Duquesne to two. Starting all 17 matches of his redshirt freshman season, Lang has contributed on the offensive end as well, ranking second on the team with 13 points. Racking up five goals and three assists on the year, Lang has logged two game-winning scores and 12 total shots on goal.

Kalish became just the third coach to earn the A-10 Coach of the Year accolade three times, alongside former head coaches Mike McGinty (Saint Louis) and Wade Jean (Duquesne). A Saint Louis University alumnus and Billiken All-American, Kalish led SLU to an 8-2-6 record prior to the postseason, going 5-0-3 in league play to secure the regular season crown. The Billikens have not lost at home this year, and their last loss altogether came to Akron on Sep. 23. Saint Louis has earned a spot in 10 of the 12 United Soccer Coaches Top-25 polls released this season, reaching as high as No. 7.

The awards were announced ahead of the A-10 Men’s Soccer Championship semifinals, taking place on Wednesday, Nov. 12. No. 1 Seed Saint Louis will host No. 4 Davidson at 8 p.m. ET as No. 2 seed Fordham hosts No. 3 Dayton at 7 p.m. ET.
