WASHINGTON — The Atlantic 10 Conference selected Dayton sophomore Laney Smith and Loyola Chicago junior Zoe Hevey as the Under Armour Women’s Soccer Offensive Co-Players of the Week while Duquesne junior Ali Hughes received Defensive Player of the Week honors. Saint Louis freshman Blakely Hockett was named the Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced on Monday for games played from Sep. 29 - Oct. 5.

Smith, a forward from Fort Thomas, Ky., served as a catalyst for the Flyers’ offense this week in a pair of wins. With Dayton and Richmond knotted 0-0 in the second half on Thursday, Smith corralled a bouncing cross and put away the game-winning goal to clinch a 1-0 victory. She added an assist as well in Dayton’s 4-0 triumph against VCU on Sunday, as the Flyers improved to 5-0 in league play.

Hevey totaled four points across two games last week, racking up a goal and two assists. The forward from Pewaukee, Wis. contributed a goal and an assist to lead Loyola Chicago past George Washington on Thursday in a 3-1 result. Hevey recorded a crucial assist on Sunday at La Salle, helping the Ramblers secure a 3-3 draw.

Hughes logged a pair of clean sheets last week to push Duquesne to a pair of home victories, improving the Dukes’ record to 6-0 at Rooney Field this season. The goalkeeper from New Kensington, Pa. made five saves on Thursday in a 3-0 win over VCU, before making two saves in a 1-0 shutout win against George Mason on Sunday. Hughes owns seven shutouts this year, leaving her one shy of Duquesne’s single-season record.

Hockett scored a goal in both of Saint Louis’ victories last week, continuing the Billikens’ blistering start to league play. The defender from Edwardsville, Ill. netted the first goal of her collegiate career in the first half of Saint Louis’ 4-0 win over La Salle. She found the net again on Sunday vs. Saint Joseph’s, giving SLU a 3-0 lead on its way to a 5-0 triumph.
