WICHITA, Kan. — Davidson catcher Jacob Friend has been named to the 2024 Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award Watch List, the Wichita Sports Commission announced Thursday.
 
The junior from Arlington, Va., joins 62 others on the initial list.
 
In his first 28 games, Friend is hitting .306 with a 1.128 OPS and leads the Atlantic 10 Conference with 37 walks and a .528 on-base percentage. He ranks 12th and 15th, respectively, in the nation in those categories.
 
Friend has also hit four doubles and seven home runs and driven in 20 runs. He's the team leader with six stolen bases.
 
Award semifinalists will be announced on May 22, with the finalists announced on June 6. The award will be presented June 26.
