VCU, Saint Louis, George Washington Take Weekly #A10BASE Awards

WASHINGTON --  The Atlantic 10 Conference has named a pair of VCU student-athletes, senior Brandon Eike and sophomore Brian Curley as its Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Weekj George Washington freshman Robbie Lavey and Saint Louis freshman Graham Mastros split this week's Rookie of the Week honors.
 
Eike slashed .500/.533/1.214 over VCU's 3-0 weekend at the First Pitch Invitational. The Powhatan, Va. native opened the weekend going 3-for-6 with two doubles, one RBI and one run scored against Western Michigan before cracking a double and knocking in a run against Western Carolina. The senior had a massive game against Michigan State, going 3-for-4 with two home runs, one double and three RBIs. Defensively, he posted four putouts and four assists with zero errors over the three games. On the weekend, Eike finished the weekend with four doubles, five RBIs and only two strikeouts in 14 at-bats
 
Curley got the win behind 4.2 scoreless frames against Western Carolina, striking out a career-high nine batters, while walking zero and giving up just three hits. The Midlothian, Va. native helped VCU pick up three wins this weekend as the Rams knocked off Western Michigan, Western Carolina and the BIG 10's Michigan State. 

Lavey led the Revolutionaries in batting average at .444, piling up four hits in nine at-bats including his first collegiate home run in Tuesday's 9-5 win over Maryland Eastern Shore. The Oaken, Va. native also drove in five runs, including three against No. 13 Virginia on Wednesday. He drew two walks, bringing his on-base percentage to a stellar .545 which was top for GW last week as well. Lavey scored three runs in the four games he appeared in, while also recording two doubles, finishing the week with a 1.000 slugging percentage and stole one base.
 
Mastros earns the honor after posting a batting percentage of .400, slugging percentage of .733 and an on-base percentage of .444 through the Billikens' four games last week against Western Illinois and LMU. In 15 total at-bats, the freshman infielder tallied five runs on six hits helping the Billikens stay undefeated through their four contests. The Chicago, Ill. native also drove in two RBIs, both coming in the Billikens' final game against the Lions and boosting SLU to a 11-9 win.
