DAYTON, Ohio -- The No. 2 seeded Dayton men's soccer team defeated No. 5 Fordham, 2-0 in the Atlantic 10 Semifinals on Wednesday. The Flyers, who have now won seven games in a row, advance to the Title Game on Sunday and will host No. 6 Saint Louis.
Dayton moves to 12-2-3 on the year and Fordham falls to 8-5-5 on the season.
Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year Hjalti Sigurdsson got the scoring started right away with a header off a corner kick, assisted by Martin Bakken just four minutes into the game. The score would hold at 1-0 until the 68th minute when Ethan Sassine put one home from distance off a Felixx Buabeng assist.
Dayton outshot Fordham 30-13 in the game, and 16-3 in a dominant first half for the Flyers. The Atlantic 10 Midfielder of the Year Daniel D'Ippolito had five shots for the Rams to lead the offensive threat.
The Flyers, ranked No. 5 in the nation in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, haven't lost since October 12 and have outscored their opponents 21-4 in their seven game winning streak.
