WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference has announced its weekly honors in men’s soccer. The awards are for games played from September 28 – October 4.

Offensive Player of the Week: Sam Delgado (Gr., Vienna, Va.), Fordham
Defensive Player of the Week: William Synnestvedt (Jr., Cohasset, Mass.), Rhode Island
Rookie of the Week: Kimarly Scott (Fr. Kingston, Jamaica), VCU

Sam Delgado rallied Fordham while facing adversity on Saturday, leading the Rams to a 2-2 draw at St. Bonaventure. A red card in just the second minute of the game put Fordham down a man but didn’t stop Delgado from scoring both goals for the Rams in the first half. Delgado becomes the second consecutive Fordham student-athlete to earn Player of the Week honors after teammate Bruno Cellerino earned the award last week.

William Synnestvedt guided Rhode Island to a 2-0 week, recording two clean sheets in net. The junior goalkeeper logged four saves in a midweek 3-0 win over Saint Joseph’s before tallying five crucial stops in a 1-0 win at George Washington. Synnestvedt now stands tied atop the A10 with 46 saves this season.

Kimarly Scott helped VCU earn its first win of the season, a thrilling 4-3 road victory over Dayton that snapped the Flyers’ nine-game unbeaten streak. The first-year forward scored the Rams’ first goal just three minutes in to set the tone, eventually assisting on the game-winning goal. Scott’s three points on the day matched the most by a VCU player this season.
