NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 named Duquesne senior Jalin Cooper along with Saint Louis junior Emily Nichols as the league’s Men's & Women's Outdoor Track Performers of the Week. Massachusetts sophomore Joseph Duggan collected the Men's Field Performer accolades while George Mason senior Hannah Robertson captured the Women's Field Performer laurels. Additionally, the Rookie honors featured a pair of SLU freshman in Will Stewart for the men and Madeline Rowold for the women. The awards were announced Tuesday following the conclusion of the seventh week of meets slated between April 24-30.
Cooper, a product of Medina, N.Y., picked up a silver medal in the 100m at the Red Flash Open over the week, moving up into 12th on the A-10 performance list for the event as well as fifth in the Duquesne record book.
Nichols, who hails from St. Charles, Ill., garnered fifth in the 400m at the Drake Relays, good for eighth overall amongst conference competition on the year.
Duggan, a native of Sudbury, Mass., posted a pair of second-place performances at the UMass Pre-Championship Invitational over the weekend, claiming his first silver in shot put – now ranked third within the league – before later grabbing his second in discus – shifts up to sixth conference-wide.
Hailing from Springfield Va., Robertson snared seventh in the pole vault at the Penn Relays off a 3.78m bound, grabbing the new No. 3 position on the A-10 leaderboards.
Stewart, a product of Inverness, Ill., scored an eighth-place finish in the 100m behind a 10.63 mark, granting the new sixth spot on the conference performance list for the year.
Rowold, a native of St. Peters, Mo., composed a podium-worthy throw in the javelin at the Drake Relays over the weekend, logging third in the event as well as the new fourth position amongst league competition.
