Rhode Island Secures Fourth Consecutive #A10OTF Men's Championship; 14th Title In Program History

RICHMOND, Va. – Rhode Island won its 14th Atlantic 10 Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championship Sunday, scoring 184.5 points and claiming three events at Sports Backer Stadium.

The Rams won the high jump, the hammer and the javelin and medaled in the 4x100m Relay, 100 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, shotput, long jump and pole vault.

George Mason finished second with 128 points followed by Davidson with 122, VCU with 101.5 and Duquesne at 69. UMass placed sixth with 57 points and La Salle was seventh with 51. Saint Louis, Saint Joseph’s, and George Washington rounded out the field with 45, 43 and 36 points, respectively.

Duquesne’s Isaac Elliot broke the A-10 record in the 100 meters with a time of 10.22, topping the previous league mark of 10.24 seconds. Elliott, who won both the 100 meters and the 200 meters (20.74), was named the Most Outstanding Track Performer.

Mason's Jaylen Simmons was the Most Outstanding Field Performer after capturing the shot put with a 17.57 meter throw, as well as   medaling in the discus with a 53.67 toss. Saint Louis' Toby Gillen was named the Most Outstanding Rookie Performer after securing a gold-medal-in the 10,000 meters as well as a bronze finish in the 5,000 meters. Trent Baltzell of Rhode Island was named 2022 Coach of the Year.
