Davidson Seizes First-Ever #A10BASE Regular-Season Title; Set to Serve as Top Seed, Host for Championship

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Davidson secured the Atlantic 10 Conference regular-season baseball title and will serve as both the host as well as the No. 1 overall seed entering next week’s A-10 Baseball Championship at Wilson Field in Davidson, N.C. The seven-team, double-elimination tournament begins Tuesday, May 24 and will conclude with the Championship Final on Saturday, May 28, with all games streamed live via ESPN+.

Admission to the championship is FREE. Fans are encouraged to sit in the stands or bring a chair to sit in the grass down the left field line.
 
The Wildcats concluded the 2022 campaign with a league-best 42-11 overall mark along with a stellar 20-4 record in conference competition, locking down the program’s first-ever regular-season title in the process. Davidson receives a bye to the second day and will open championship play on Wednesday, May 25, first pitch slated for noon.
 
VCU slotted into the No. 2 overall seed, finishing with a 36-18 record and 19-5 mark in league play. The defending-champion Rams will see their first action of the tournament at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening, taking on seventh-seeded Richmond. The Spiders closed out their year with an 11-13 mark in A-10 competition and 26-24 overall.
 
Saint Louis (28-22) garnered the third overall seed via a 14-9 record in league play and will square off against No. 6 Saint Joseph’s (28-23, 12-11 A-10) at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24 in the opening round. Meanwhile, Rhode Island (20-33) slotted in as the No. 4 overall seed behind a 14-10 record within conference competition, and will battle fifth overall George Mason (22-31, 13-11 A-10) at noon on Tuesday in the championship opener for the right to challenge the top-seeded Wildcats in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

The Atlantic 10 Baseball Championship will feature three games per day with no elimination contests slated for the opening day. The Championship Final begins at noon Saturday with an 'if necessary' game scheduled for immediately after.
 
The winner of the Atlantic 10 Baseball Championship will receive the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, which opens Friday, June 3 with regional play.
