NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Saint Louis seized the Atlantic 10 Conference regular-season title and will serve as the No. 1 overall seed entering next week’s A-10 Men’s Soccer Championship. The eight-team, single-elimination tournament begins Friday, Nov. 4 and Saturday, Nov. 5 with on-campus quarterfinals action, all streamed live via ESPN+.
The Billikens concluded the 2022 campaign with a five-match win streak en route to a 10-4-1 overall mark along with an 6-1-1 record in conference competition, locking down the program’s seventh overall regular-season title as well as the league’s first repeat since the 2006 and 2007 seasons (also Saint Louis). SLU opens postseason play against No. 8 Massachusetts on Friday, Nov. 4 at 8 pm ET / 7 pm CT.
In addition to Saint Louis, second-seeded Duquesne (10-3-4) secured hosting duties behind a notable 4-1-3 record against A-10 competition. The Dukes open championship play at 7 pm ET on Saturday, Nov. 5 against No. 7 La Salle, who closed out the regular season with at 5-8-4 overall and 3-3-2 in conference action. The Explorers clinched the seventh seed over No. 8 UMass via a multi-team tiebreaker through composite record versus common conference opponents.
VCU (3-7-6) earned the third overall seed via a 3-1-4 mark in league competition and will host No. 6 Dayton (9-2-4, 3-2-3 A-10) at 7 pm ET on Friday, Nov. 4 in the opening round.
Loyola Chicago (7-2-6) garnered the championship’s fourth overall position after finishing the program’s inaugural A-10 campaign with a 3-2-3 record in conference play, checking in as the final host site against fifth-seeded George Washington (8-8-2, 4-4-0 A-10) at 4 pm ET / 3 pm CT on Saturday, Nov. 5.
The Ramblers topped a three-way tiebreaker with GW and Dayton en route to the No. 4 seed while the Colonials and Flyers slotted into fifth and sixth, respectively.
Following the conclusion of quarterfinals, pairings will be re-seeded heading into the semifinal round.
The winner of the Atlantic 10 Men’s Soccer Championship will receive the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, which opens Thursday, Nov. 17.
