NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Atlantic 10 Conference has named George Mason sophomore Annabelle Eastman and Dayton Sophomore Calan Gizelbach its Women's and Men's Cross Country Performers of the Week. Richmond's Elizabeth Stockman and Stuart Terrill earned Rookie Performer of the Week accolades. The awards, announced Tuesday, are the first of the year, and are for meets run through February 7.
Eastman, a Melbourne, Australia, product, was the individual champion in the women's 5k at the Richmond Winter XC Invite, posting a personal-record time of 17:08.6. George Mason won the Richmond Invite on the women's side behind Eastman's first place performance.
In her collegiate debut, Stockman, a native of Rocky Hill, Conn., finished third overall in the women's 5k at the Richmond Winter XC Invite, and first for the Spiders, with a time of 17:35.7. The women earned a third-place team finish, with two finishes in the top ten.
Gizelbach finished first overall at the Wright State meet and led the Flyers to a team victory in the opening race of the season. The Cumming, Ga., native recorded a Top 50 time in program history and set a new PR in the 8K with a time of 24:57.
Terrill finished first overall in his collegiate debut in the Richmond XC Winter Invite last weekend. After running with the group for the first three miles, the rookie from Crozet, Va., took the lead and won by roughly 19 seconds with a time 24:42.5 in the 8k race. The Spider men posted a first place team finish in the race, taking four of the top five spots.
