BRONX, N.Y. – Fourth-seeded Fordham (7-9-2, 4-3-1 A-10) required a clutch finish from Florian Deletioglu as the program advanced to its third straight Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer Championship semifinal match, dispatching No. 5 VCU (9-7-2, 4-3-1 A-10) in double overtime during the league's quarterfinals round, by a final 2-1 mark Saturday evening at Jack Coffey Field.

With the victory, defending A-10 champion Fordham secured a return ticket to the A-10 Men's Soccer Championship semifinals, matching wits against undefeated championship host and top-seeded Saint Louis at 1 p.m. ET on Friday, Nov. 12. The contest will be broadcast live via ESPN+.

The game-winner by Deletioglu, who entered the contest in a tie for Fordham's second-best scorer, served as the exclamation point on a long sequence which began off a deep throw-in from Matt Sloan back near midfield; the ball initially bounced off a VCU defender before a pair of passes between Luke McNamara and Max Rogers set up the German import for the one-touch golden goal.

Fordham also netted the opening score of the match at the 26th minute, as a cross from Rogers-to-Sloan back by the VCU's right post resulted in an own goal.

Less than four minutes after the halftime break, however, VCU responded with a goal of their own, utilizing a corner kick to set up Jared Valdes for the redirected score. An elite passing sequence between four Rams opened the door for a shot at the top of the box from Damian Gallegos, who then saw Valdes angle his attempt towards the right post and in for the equalizer.

For the night, Fordham proved offensively dominant as they edged out VCU across shots (21-to-7), shots-on-goal (5-to-4) and corner kicks (4-to-1). Notably, Fordham's Sloan and Sameer Fathazada impressed with a total 11 shots between the duo, two of which came on goal.

VCU's Mario Sequeira closed out the contest with a match-best four saves while Fordham keeper Nick Buchholz trailed not far behind with a pair himself.
