Massachusetts Wins Fourth A-10 Women's Indoor Track and Field Championship

KINGSTON, R.I.- Massachusetts won its fourth title overall and first since 2016 Sunday in the 2020 Atlantic 10 Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championship. The Minutewomen scored 120.5 points and won five events to claim the crown.
 
Two-time defending champion VCU, took second place with 107 points, followed closely by Rhode Island with 103.5. George Mason finished fourth with 91 points, followed by Richmond (84), Duquesne (76), Dayton (56.5), Davidson (40.5), George Washington (34), La Salle (27), Saint Louis (20), Fordham (15), with Saint Joseph’s rounding out the group with 4 points. 
 
The Minutewomen were led by 2020 A-10 Coach of the Year Julie LaFreniere and Most Outstanding Field Performer, Jada Harris. Harris won the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.45 and tied the meet record in the process, while Lindsay Witt took first in the 200 meters in 24.72. Harris also took first in the high jump at 1.73 meters, while Emilie Cowan won the 500 meters, clocking in at 1:13.18. Kira Kopec won the pentathlon with a final score of 3,722. 
 
Rhode Island’s Kristina MacLure claimed first place in the 60 meters with a time of 7.52, while Lotte Black won the mile in 4:52.32. 
 
Duquesne’s Bethany Evankovich won the 400 meters in 54.74. The Dukes also claimed first in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:45.56. 
 
Richmond’s Brooke Fazio broke the meet and facility record with her time of 2:06.39 in the 800 meters. The Spiders also broke both the meet and facility record with a win in the 4x800 meter relay at 8:59.91. 
 
Davidson’s Eleni Daughters took first in the 1,000 meters, crossing the finish line in 2:51.03. 
 
George Washington’s Suzanne Danneheim, the 2020 A-10 Most Outstanding Track Performer, secured wins in the 3,000 meters at 9:32.20 and the 5,000 metes at 16:20.52, a new meet and facility record. 
 
George Mason’s Vilde Vage Henriksen, the 2020 Most Outstanding Rookie, finished Sunday with a second place finish in the mile at 4:55.13 and a third place finish in the 1,000 meters at 2:52.99.
 
Saint Louis junior Katie Wissing won the triple jump with a measure of 12.33 meters. VCU’s Makayla McGowan took first place in the shot put at 15.21 meters.
