Dayton Reaches A-10 Title Game on Strong Pitching, Timely Hitting

BRONX, N.Y. – No. 3 Dayton got a strong outing from starter Tyler Henry and used timely hitting to beat second seeded Davidson in the consolation bracket final of the 2019 Atlantic 10 Baseball Championship at Fordham’s Houlihan Park.  The Flyers advance to the title game for the first time since 2012.

Henry (3-3) went 7.2 innings and allowed two runs on six hits with 11 strikeouts to earn the win. Hunter Wolfe finished the game off for the Flyers with his first save of the season, throwing 1.1 innings of hitless ball.

Dayton last won the A-10 Championship in 2012 at Houlihan Park. They will face the fourth-seeded host Fordham. First pitch is scheduled at noon.

Alex Brickman led Dayton with a 2-for-5 performance. Alex Mardiney and Max Bazin each had two hits for the Wildcats, while Mardiney had a game-high two RBI, one of which came on a solo home run in the fourth.

Luke Burton (0-2) took the loss for Davidson (29-22) who was eliminated with the loss.
