KINGSTON, R.I. – The third-seeded Saint Louis Billikens beat the sixth-seeded Davidson in a 3-0 sweep in match two of the 2019 Atlantic 10 Volleyball Championship Quarterfinals Friday at Keaney Gymnasium in Kingston, R.I.
With the win, the Billikens advance to play the second-seeded Dayton Flyers in the A-10 Semifinals on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 7:00 pm.
The ‘Cats won the first point on a service error from Saint Louis, but the Billikens quickly recovered with a pair of aces and a pair of kills to draw a 5-1 lead, one which they held steadily through the end of the set, outscoring the Wildcats 17 kills to seven.
The Billikens continued to control the court in the second set in which the offense fired off 12 kills and four aces to overwhelm the Davidson defense and take game two.
Staying on pace, Saint Louis took the third set 25-16.
Leading point-scorer for the Billikens, Maya Taylor, put up 15 points on 12 kills, while Kennedy Cordia provided a match-high 37 assists.
Hattie Rodriguez led the Wildcats with 8 points on 7 kills, while Julia Black had 10 assists and Josie Treadwell added 10 digs.
