Peterson, Moore, Williams, Wood, Rogers Headline Major A-10 Volleyball Awards

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Dayton's Jamie Peterson and Amelia Moore, Fordham's Morgan Williams, La Salle's Kathryn Wood, and VCU coach Jody Rogers earned the Atlantic 10's top volleyball awards, which were announced Thursday preceding the 2019 Atlantic 10 Volleyball Championship.
 
Peterson was named the 2019 A-10 Volleyball Player of the Year, while her freshman teammate Moore was named Rookie of the Year. Williams was named Libero of the Year, Wood, Setter of the Year, and Rogers earned Coach of the Year honors.
 
Peterson led the league in kills with 476 for 4.67 per set and sat third in service aces per set with an average of 0.41. After not playing the last two seasons, the redshirt sophomore from West Liberty, Ohio, led the Flyers in kills, kills per set and service aces (42) and sat second in digs (243) and third in blocks (80). Peterson earned A-10 Player of the Week honors seven times this season for her efforts.
 
Moore totaled 162 kills on the season hitting .296 overall. The five-time A-10 Rookie of the Week from Ocean Springs, Miss., put up 235.5 total points for the Flyers this season in 93 sets.
 
Williams led the A-10 in digs with 641 averaging 6.05 per set. The senior libero from Los Angeles broke seven program records at Fordham this season including the career digs and digs per set records, the single season digs and digs per set records, the four, five, and overall single-match records and tied the three-set record for the third time third time. She sits sixth nationally in digs per set and seventh in total digs.
 
Wood led the league in assists, totaling 1,035 and averaging 10.56 per set. The Senior from Smithtown, N.Y., holds the program's all-time career assists record and assists per set record. Wood also led La Salle in service aces and had the third-best hitting percentage on the team.
 
In her seventh year as head coach, Rogers led VCU to a perfect 14-0 conference record, winning 23 of 28 games overall to clinch the regular season title and top seed of the championship. VCU was also the regular season champion in 2018.
 
Also announced were the All-Conference First and Second Teams, All-Rookie Team, and All-Academic Team. A list of the awards can be found below.
 
The 2019 Atlantic 10 Volleyball Championship begins Friday with the quarterfinals featuring No. 4 George Washington and No. 5 La Salle at 3:30 pm, and No. 3 Saint Louis versus No. 6 Davidson at 6:00 pm. The winner of the first quarterfinal game will face top-seeded VCU at 4:30 pm on Saturday, while the winner of the second match will face No. 2 Dayton at 7:00 pm. The championship final will be played Sunday at 2:00 pm, with the winner advancing to the NCAA tournament.
