One of the most prestigious NCAA awards, the NCAA established the Woman of the Year Award in 1991 to celebrate the achievements of women in intercollegiate athletics. The NCAA Woman of the Year award honors graduating female college athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves in academics, athletics, service and leadership throughout their collegiate careers.

In its current format, student-athletes are nominated by each A-10 institution. The Atlantic 10 then selects up to two conference nominees, which the NCAA then considers for the award. below are links to the A-10 releases on the nominees.

University of Massachusetts women's cross country and track and field alumna Heather MacLean was named one of the Top 30 honorees for the 2018 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.

In 2008, Charlotte's Lindsey Ozimek made the cut, first as a Top 30 candidate, and then as one of the Nine Woman of the Year Finalists.
