11 A-10 Student-Athletes Nominated For NCAA Woman Of The Year Award

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Charlotte's Hailey Beam, who was recently named the 2010 A-10 Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, is among 11 student-athletes from the Conference who have been nominated for the 20th annual NCAA Woman of the Year Award.

Also nominated for the prestigious honor are La Salle's Shannon Duval and Morgan Robertson; Mandi Bäck of Dayton; Rhode Island's Shayna Daugherty; Colleen Greway of Saint Joseph's; Whitney Roth of Saint Louis; Saint Bonaventure's Dana Mitchell; Caitlin Napoli of Fordham; Xavier's Kelly Ruth; and Abby Syverson of George Washington.

The award honors senior student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers collegiate careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service and leadership. Nominees represent all three NCAA divisions.

In order to be eligible for the award, female student-athletes must have completed intercollegiate eligibility in their primary sport by the end of the 2010 spring season and graduated no later than the end of the summer 2010 term.

The NCAA Woman of the Year selection committee will choose the top 10 nominees in each division. From among those 30 honorees, the selection committee will determine its top three in each division. Finally, the members of the Committee on Women's Athletics will vote from among the top nine to determine the 2010 NCAA Woman of the Year.

The top 10 honorees from Divisions I, II and III will be honored, and the 2010 NCAA Woman of the Year announced, at a dinner in Indianapolis on Oct.17, 2010.
