WASHINGTON – Davidson earned its first ever A-10 Baseball Championship win as it registered 17 hits en route to a 10-2 victory over Saint Louis in an elimination game.
Davidson (27-21) advances to another elimination game on Friday night against George Washington at 8:30. GW knocked off Richmond on Friday morning. Saint Louis finishes its season 35-21.
Davidson scored five runs in the second inning which was highlighted by a two RBI double by David Daniels.
The Wildcats tacked on single runs in each of the next three innings to build in an 8-2 advantage.
In the sixth inning, Davidson added its final two runs on an RBI double by Lee Miller and a two-out RBI single by Andrew Pope.
Rob Bain got the win for Davidson to improve his record to 6-4. Bain tossed seven innings and gave up just two runs on 11 hits, while striking out three and he did not walk a batter.
Josh Moore took the loss for Saint Louis. He went 1.1 innings and gave up five runs, dropping his record to 4-4.
