GW Advances With a 7-2 Win Over Richmond

WASHINGTON - George Washington topped Richmond 7-2 on Friday morning in an elimination game of the 2015 Atlantic 10 Conference Baseball Championship.

With the win, GW (32-21) advances to play the winner of Davidson and Saint Louis in another elimination game at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Richmond drops to 28-25.

A Ryan Xepoleas single put GW on the board 1-0 in the bottom half of the second inning.

Richmond responded with a pair of runs in the next half inning on a sacrifice fly my Michael Morman and a bases loaded walk by Kyle Adams made it 2-1.

In the bottom half of the third, Joey Bartosic and Eli Kashi opened the inning with back-to-back singles and came around to score on a one out single by Brandon Champman to make it 3-1 in favor of the Colonials.

In the sixth inning, seven consecutive batters reached base as GW used four hits and took advantage of a pair of Spider errors to score four runs and go up 7-1.

Luke Olson came out of the bullpen to earn the win. Olson gave up three hits in 3.1 innings of work to improve his record to 3-1. Craig LeJeune logged the final three innings where he stuck out four and gave up three hits for his second save of the season.

Brendan McGuigan (2-4) took the loss for Richmond after going five innings and giving up three runs.
