WASHINGTON -- George Washington struck for 10 runs in the first four innings on its way to an 11-5 victory over Fordham in an elimination game of the 2015 Atlantic 10 Conference Baseball Championship on Wednesday.
GW improves to 31-21 overall and will play on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. where it will face the loser of the Richmond and Rhode Island game slated for 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Fordham caps its season with a 22-32 record.
The Colonials started off quick loading the bases in the first inning with no outs before a bases clearing double by Brandon Chapman made it 3-0.
After tacking on a single run in the second, GW scored three more times in the third on a squeeze bunt by Bobby Campbell and an RBI double by Kevin Mahala to make it 7-0.
Fordham got on the board with a single run in the fourth before GW scored three more times in its half inning to extend its lead to 10-1.
Jacob Williams went 8.1 innings for GW to get the win and improve to 4-3 on the season. Williams surrendered 12 hits and four runs, struck out four and did not walk anyone.
