Baseball Championship Opens Wednesday; SLU is the Top Seed

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – For the fourth consecutive season the Saint Louis Billikens are the top-seed in the Atlantic 10 Conference Baseball Championship.

The 2015 edition of the Championship will take place May 20-23 at Tucker Field at Barcroft Park in Arlington, Va. and will be hosted by The George Washington University.

SLU finished the regular season with a league best 16-8 record to earn the top-seed. Rhode Island and Richmond each finished at 15-9 with the Rams earning the second-seed by virtue of their series win over the Spiders back in April.

Davidson and VCU finished tied at 14-10. The Wildcats earn the fourth-seed after the conference tie-breaking procedure. Both teams finished with 10-8 records against common opponents, but Davidson’s win over Saint Louis broke the tie. Saint Louis will await the winner of VCU and Davidson on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.

Host GW finished 13-10 and will be the sixth-seed, while Fordham placed seventh with an 13-11 record.

UR and GW will open the championship on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Game two will feature Rhody and Fordham at 1:30 p.m., while Davidson and VCU will square off at 5:00 p.m. The two lowest seeded losing teams from day one will cap off the day with an elimination game at 8:30 p.m.

All 12 games will be streamed live on the A-10 Network through Atlantic10.com as well as the A-10 mobile app. For more information on the Championship, including schedule, games stories, ticket information and photos visit the official Championshp Central Webpage
