WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference ranks among the national leaders in NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) data, posting a rate of 991 according to the latest NCAA data, which was released publicly on Tuesday. There were 13 Atlantic 10 schools above the NCAA national average in all sports, and 58 teams earned public recognition from the NCAA.
The 991 rate matches the highest average in the last six years and places the Atlantic 10 tied for fifth place among all 32 Division I conferences. The A-10 had 139 teams at or above the national average in their sport, representing nearly 61 percent of the league’s total teams. Additionally, 57 programs recorded a perfect rate of 1,000.
The NCAA Academic Progress Rate measures eligibility, graduation and retention each semester or academic term and provides a clear picture of the academic performance of each team in every sport. The most recent APRs, released Tuesday, are multi-year rates based on scores from the 2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25 academic years.
Fordham has the highest institutional multi-year average among the 14 full A-10 members, with a 994.2 average, followed by Richmond’s 994.1. Davidson’s program average is 993, followed by Saint Joseph’s at 992.7 and Duquesne at 991.1.
Women’s soccer and women’s track and field had the most teams above the national average, with 12 teams topping the mean of 990 and 989, respectively. Women’s basketball had the second most with 11 teams above the national average of 989. Men’s track and field in the A-10 had 10 teams above the national average of 982, and men’s soccer and men’s cross country had nine teams each above the NCAA mean (national average of 983 and 989).
Davidson recorded the highest number of teams that posted perfect multi-year APR scores with 11. Fordham and Saint Joseph’s had nine each, while Richmond had seven teams and Dayton had six teams with perfect scores.
Softball had the highest number of perfect teams with six, followed by men’s cross country with five. Women’s basketball, women’s tennis, women’s cross country, women’s golf, women’s swimming & diving, men’s tennis and men’s golf each had four perfect teams.
